Katie Cook is an Associate Attorney at our law firm. Katie was born and raised in Rapid City, South Dakota and attended Stevens High School. She has been a lawyer now for the past three years practicing in the area of Litigation which includes insurance defense, construction law, plaintiff’s work, and bad faith. Litigation, in general, is her favorite practice area, she enjoys analyzing other positions and helping people to get things resolved.
When asked why she wanted to become a lawyer, Katie stated: “I enjoyed the subject matter and being able to read and write.” Katie enjoys being able to advocate for her clients while building relationships with other attorneys in the community. A typical day as a lawyer for Katie is doing a lot of research, reading, writing, and occasional visits to court or depositions and attending Junior Achievement meetings, one of the organizations Katie is involved in.
When Katie isn’t working, she enjoys spending time with her family. Katie and her husband have been married for six years and met while playing sand volleyball in college. They have one child, Harper who is 2 ½, and another child due in March. She enjoys watching Friends, Modern Family, Ink Master, Life in Pieces, Netflix binging or watching her favorite movie Twister. Katie’s favorite place to eat in Rapid City is at Tally’s Silverspoon and she is an MLB St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Another interesting fact about Katie is that she wants to do a giant trip to Europe when she is able too, and her favorite place she has ever vacationed at is Alaska. When we asked Katie what her favorite holiday is and why she stated “I love Christmas! The atmosphere, the songs, the food, baking, watching my kiddo discover what it’s all about.”
