In celebration of Law Day, several attorneys from GPNA had the opportunity to visit St. Elizabeth Seton and engage with 4th and 5th grade students through an interactive mock trial experience.
This year’s case brought a creative twist to the courtroom: The State vs. Harry Potter. The central question—did Harry Potter commit second-degree murder against Professor Quirrell?—captured students’ attention and set the stage for an engaging and educational morning.
These attorneys stepped into a variety of roles to bring the trial to life. Jana Smoot White presided as judge, with Richard Williams representing the State and Katie Cook serving as defense counsel. The cast of characters also included Aidan Goetzinger as Harry Potter, Jason Smiley as Lord Voldemort, Tyler Wetering as Severus Snape, Ashley McDonald as Hermione Granger, Matt Naasz as Albus Dumbledore, and Owen Wiese as Rubeus Hagrid.
The students played a critical role as the jury, carefully listening to testimony, evaluating evidence, and ultimately delivering a verdict of not guilty.
Events like this highlight the importance of community involvement and provide a meaningful way to introduce young students to the legal system. By combining education with creativity, the mock trial helped make legal concepts both accessible and memorable.
GPNA is proud to support opportunities that inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of the justice system. We extend our sincere thanks to St. Elizabeth Seton for welcoming us and allowing us to be part of such a fun and impactful Law Day experience.
