Maria Critchlow began exploring her interest in the legal system when she interned for the Michigan State Senate and Michigan House of Representatives in college. She attended Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to pursue a bachelor’s degree in political science where she received the Political Science Student-Citizen award as a senior. After graduation, she worked as a policy advisor for the Michigan House of Representatives, advising Representatives in the areas of human services and insurance, among others. In this role, she also shaped the internship program for college students hoping to learn about the legislative process.
To further develop her legal knowledge, she attended the University of Iowa College of Law. She was active in the pro bono society, a Managing Editor for the Iowa Law Review, and graduated number two in her class. Following law school, she had the privilege of serving as a law clerk to the Honorable Thomas L. Ludington, United States District Judge for the Eastern District of Michigan.
She joined Gunderson, Palmer, Nelson, and Ashmore after her clerkship and looks forward to helping clients achieve their goals. Maria is married to her husband Jeff and they enjoy traveling to national parks, visiting state capitols, and exploring the Black Hills.
