Meet Denise Pauly, an Advanced Certified Paralegal who has been with our firm for 31 years! She has been working in law offices since 1980 and attained her paralegal certification in 2000. Denise first started as a legal assistant for Jim Nelson at our firm in 1988, then proceeded to work for Jason Smiley in 2004, followed by Chris Christianson in 2018. The attorneys she assists practice in the areas of Civil Litigation and Real Estate. When we asked Denise what her favorite part of being a paralegal is, she stated “The work is challenging, and there is never a dull moment.” A typical day for her is usually fairly chaotic with lots of interruptions and changing directions. Denise is involved in the Black Hills Legal Professionals Association, NALS, and the South Dakota Paralegal Association. Her most memorable project while working for the firm was assisting with the sale of the South Dakota State Cement Plant.

Denise was born in Martin, South Dakota, and grew up in rural Bennett County where she attended high school and then went to National College in Rapid City. When she isn’t working, she likes to read, go walking/hiking, and watch sports, especially football.  Her favorite vacations include traveling to the Oregon coast, Glacier Park, and Naples, Florida.  Her bucket list includes traveling to the Texas Hill Country and attending a college bowl game.

Denise is a vital part of the Gunderson Palmer team, and we are thankful to have her work for our firm!
